On February 10, 2025, the seminar to present the results of the project "Mapping and socio-economic dynamics of higher education students in Grande Porto and Grande Lisboa", funded by EDULOG - Think Tank for Education of the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation, will take place at the Afonso de Barros Auditorium, ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (Floor 1, Building 3), Avenida das Forças Armadas, Lisbon. The results, conclusions and recommendations will be presented by the project co-coordinator, Maria José Sá, and the project researcher, Joyce Aguiar.
The main conclusions of the study are (1) the difficulties faced by higher education students in Lisbon and Porto, especially those who are displaced. The study analyses the main challenges faced by thousands of students in these two metropolitan areas and identifies conditions for improving the well-being and academic success of young people in higher education; (2) the creation of more subsidised accommodation, an increase in scholarships and a review of eligibility criteria could significantly improve the student experience by reducing the burden of personal expenditure.
